Clever headline huh? Anyway, I started doing this already but I forgot to tell you: I’m moving to an update-every-other-day schedule for the time being; it’s end of term which means for once, I’ll be busy with my clingy and cement-based mistress, school. Every now and again she inevitably calls me up and says “Derry, yo waz u cobo mash pontato,” which doesn’t make any sense, so I say “What?” and by then she has rolled me up in a carpet and we are on the bus to school singing Boyz II Men songs at the top of our A+ lungs.
No strip today. I’ve had way too much Smash Bros. Smash Bros and Pizza. But it’s a sweet excess let me tell you. If you’re playing online let me know! Rock Band too (PS3).
Anyway, instead of a comic, I’m giving you this blog entry. I know that doesn’t sound like a fair trade, but I’m a horrible person.
I’ll say thanks to those of you who’ve decided to keep an eye on this ink-ridden journey of mine; I don’t know how long it’ll last, but as the old saying goes, “Derek will continue for now because he does not have much better to do.”
It’s been fun so far. A little annoying too. I’m a neurotic writer first and a cartoonist second (if you couldn’t tell by my cave-man level of drawing) and sometimes I get hung up on the phrasing of things to such a ridiculous extent that I start to question my sanity. But that’s where the video games and grease pies come in; they fill in all the holes I’ve poked in my brain and I soldier on to… something…
Taking a couple days off for some school stuff I need to do. Unfortunately I’ve had to hold off from getting Super Smash Bros. as well, otherwise I would be doomed grade-wise (though probably less dispirited). See you soon, allies in ink.
Wo-huh? I wrote a second blog entry and it was up for a while but I think accidentally deleted it. Ah well, basically I just said while I may not always stick to daily strips, I’ll try to keep it fairly regular, assuming real life doesn’t run in and push me around too much like the little stick man I am.
It’s only been 16 days since this fledgling took flight, but I gotta tell you, it’s been very… healthy. Animation has been my primary medium for the past few years, and while I still love that particularly mangly ball of yarn, doing this comic is a remarkably refreshing change of pace. I can wake up, stir up an idea, and by the end of the day the strip is done. Bip, bop, bap. That’s also the sound of a three-punch combo by the way. Try it on someone and see.
Heya! So here we are, buddy. Buddies? I’m a flighty weirdo so I don’t know how long I’ll keep this going, but for now, Inkblort, yet another webcomic in this vast sea of digital wonder we call the internet, is here to comfort you, warm your snowman toes, to feed the blorty blots of ink right into yer shining eyes. Something like that.
